Designing Joyful Materials
Low-cost & No-cost Philosophy
Educational kits shouldn't burden schools or teachers financially. My design guidelines encourage utilizing daily recycled household waste: empty matchboxes, plastic bottle caps, seeds, pebbles, scrap cardboard, and old newspapers.
This approach not only teaches children eco-sensitivity but also bridges the gap between home environments and school curricula—making learning a naturally continuous part of their lives.
Tactile & Sensory Interaction
Abstract symbols like letters and mathematical equations are hard for child minds to grasp. When children interact with physical representations (e.g. feeling place value using bundles of 10 matchsticks), their brain creates stronger neural pathways.
This physical representation is particularly crucial for supporting Divyaang (differently-abled) children who rely heavily on sensory and tactile feedback to perceive educational patterns.
